Residential Bunglow, Betul

Reviving the lost royal architecture prevailed in the time of emperors by empowering it with modern architecture style makes the bunglow superior. Architectural experience is about creating memories, and often, in an attempt to insinuate traditional architecture in order to create a lasting image while adopting a universal aesthetic, intervention ends up being kitschy and pastiche. The attempt is to retain the values and customs of ancient practice via the architectural style. Traditional Indian architecture is typically associated with ornamental detailing, Wide verandah, double heighted drawing room, lavish ornamentation, large windows (height close to roof), high artificial lighting, pattern of lamps, articulation of furniture, flooring, and fine details depict the royalness and traditional architecture style while that of fenestration designs and ceiling designs belong to contemporary architecture style. Typically, people engage with tradition in a superficial manner in ways that are ordered, orthogonal and more often than not, a contemporary take on Indo-Sarcenic architecture. 180 km away from Bhopal, the bungalow is situated in the heart of India- betul district of Madhya Pradesh.

Interior objects engulfed to better suit the architecture style of the bungalow. For instance- the Classic chandelier above it have arrays of hanging crystal prisms to illuminate the drawing room with refracted light, the sofa design adopted in the drawing room belongs to ancient times i.e. heavy and highly ornamented, the cupboards with intricate pattern, tables with carved details etc. Sophistication at its best since placement of all the components is appropriately executed with respect to doors and windows.
